Environment

At Link we are committed to the sustainable management of our Company and take the responsibility to minimise our impact on the environment very seriously. Our approach is to develop appropriate processes that support appropriate use of resources.

Simple Steps

We encourage our staff to take an environmental approach by taking simple steps including:

  • Aim to occupy buildings with 4.5 energy rating or higher
  • Turning off monitors when leaving their desks
  • Support of the appropriate campaigns to create awareness of environmental or climate change issues
  • Turning off lights and equipment throughout the various buildings when not in use
  • Reduction of paper used in business by setting all printers to print double-sided
  • Recycling paper, cardboard, plastics, glass and printer cartridges

Working with our Clients to Make Green Choices

We offer our clients the flexibility to make environmentally-friendly choices in communications with their holders. By offering online solutions to proxy voting, notice of meetings, annual reports, dividend statements, updating details and more, we provide a vital role in reducing our environmental impact and that of our clients.

We look to work with our clients to provide solutions which minimise environmental impact, while producing more efficient and ultimately cheaper solutions to Link and its clients.

Some facts & figures

  • Online transactions have increased by 343% between 2004 and 2008.
  • There has been a significant reduction in the number of annual reports printed by our clients. One example includes a client who previously had 120,000 reports printed in 2006 to 3,000 in 2008. Link encourages all clients to work with their shareholders to encourage the use of online annual report elections, available under the Corporations Legislation Amendment (Simpler Regulatory System) Bill 2007, to ensure that their holders have access to the online annual report rather than producing unnecessary paper reports.
  • Online proxy voting is another way for Link to assist its clients with the removal of paper from the shareholder relationship. Through the use of proxy voting and promotion of online voting, one demutualisation client had 30.5% of votes returned online.
